Borrowing Library Materials
Your student/staff ID card is your Library card; please remember it in order to borrow books. See below for loan entitlements.
To access online materials, use your Courtauld IT credentials when prompted. There are no loan limits for accessing online materials.
Loan entitlements for physical books
Entitlements are set at:
- 7 books for BAs, MAs, PgDips
- 10 books for PhDs and Staff
Loan Periods
Loan periods are 1 week for BAs, MAs, PgDips; 2 weeks for PhDs, 3 weeks for Staff.
Your loans will automatically renew, unless a student requests the book that you’ve borrowed; in this case, you are notified via email and need to bring back the book by the due date. Every day you fail to return a book after it has been recalled, will result in a freeze on your account. For example, if you don’t return a recalled book for a week, you won’t be allowed to borrow books for a week.
Monitoring your Library account
You can sign in to Library Search and see your current loans and any reservations, recalls and so on. Login by following the ‘sign in’ option at the top right hand side of the screen. Once you are logged in you can also save your searches and pin items that you like the look of; this helps with keeping your research organised. For any assistance just talk to Library staff at the helpdesk or email libary@courtauld.ac.uk. Remember that you can also book a 1-2-1 appointment with one of our friendly Librarians, via the Book a Librarian service.
