Spring and Autumn Courses

On campus and online

Our Spring and Autumn courses go considerably beyond introductory surveys. Organised thematically, they provide a solid basis for further studies of areas of Western art from classical antiquity to the present day. We teach in small groups to facilitate discussion.

An Introduction to Art History and our Making Sense of courses familiarise students with fundamental aspects of the visual arts and of art history and its methodologies.

Variations on a Theme is an interdisciplinary programme designed for participants who like to explore the connections between different cultural expressions within one historical period.

Media, Materials and Methods foregrounds aspects of the practice of artmaking while also situating them in the historical contexts of patronage and reception.

Our new programmes for 2025 will be online in mid December this year. If you are not already on our mailing list, do contact short.courses@courtauld.ac.uk to join, so that you do not miss out when we launch the programmes.

Spring Courses

Our Spring programme for 2024 offers fundamental courses, both on campus and online, on various aspects of Western art.
