Online learning has become an important and integral element of our department’s educational offer. It reaches a global audience of students who for a variety of reasons cannot join us in London, and appeals to those who need to wrap their learning around existing commitments at work and at home.
With our tutors, and based on feedback from our students, we have created a straightforward online learning mode that is user-friendly, and has been very positively received.
Summer School online courses include:
- Ten pre-recorded one-hour lectures, which are delivered to students four weeks before the first discussion session.
- A live Zoom seminar (of between sixty to seventy-five minutes’ duration) in the afternoons at 14:00, and where necessary, also at 16:00 [London time]. There is also a social ‘icebreaker’ session, usually on the Wednesday before your first Zoom seminar. We want to enable students to participate fully in the online seminars. Therefore, in all our online courses, where there are more than the maximum number of students, we split the group in two and offer a second seminar later the same day.
- Pre-course reading materials, handouts, further reading suggestions, student-to-tutor and peer-to-peer discussion forums on the VLE.
The fee for all Summer School online courses is £395.
