Welcome Week 26/27

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our new and continuing undergraduate, postgraduate and research students to the 2026/27 academic year. There are a number of important events throughout Welcome Week, ranging from introduction sessions for your programme through to orientation for students new to London and the UK, all geared toward getting you ready for the academic year ahead.

Welcome Week will help get your bearings for the Autumn Term and beyond, providing guidance on both academic and non-academic support.

Please note, in the build-up to Welcome Week this schedule is likely to change. It is recommended you check back regularly for the most up-to-date information.

Welcome to the Courtauld

Welcome Week Timetable

Throughout Welcome Week we have a number of additional services available.

The One Stop Shop, including ID collection and general advice, is available Monday-Thursday, 10:00-15:30, in VG01, and Friday 10:00-14:00 at the Advice Desk located on the 2nd floor.

A designated Quiet Room is available to any student who may wish for a quiet space during the week, situated in the study room adjacent to the Students’ Union’s Common Room

IT support will be available Monday – Friday, 10:00-16:00, in Seminar Room 2 for any technical issues you may experience.

Sunday 20th September

11:00-12:45 FACULTY MIXER & CAMPUS TOURS - BA1 History of Art students - Vernon Square Campus

Undergraduate students are invited to an informal mixer to get to know your fellow new students, returning students, members of faculty, and Courtauld staff.

This is a drop-in event, and you can book on to any of the tour slots (please note, the booking for tours is due to go live in the coming weeks):

Walking tour from Vernon Square campus to Somerset House led by student staff. This will last approximately 45-60 minutes.

You will then have the opportunity to visit the Gallery free of charge. You can book one additional free ticket to the Gallery. Any other guests accompanying you will need to book a full-price ticket.

You can add one student ticket and one adult ticket free of charge to your basket..

Location: Common Room and Courtyard (weather dependent)

All international students are invited to a mixer to meet fellow students, share experiences and give each other advice on how to make the most of living in London and visit the UK.

Refreshments and nibbles will be provided.

15:30-16:30 - Personal Tutor Meet and Greet

Location: Common Room

An opportunity for our new BA students to meet their personal tutors.

19:00-22:00 - BA Social

Location: George and Monkey

All BA1 students are invited to meet their cohort at the George & Monkey Pub, our local spot which hosts many of the SU’s events and gives each Courtauld student a 15% discount on beverages.

The SU will provide a £500 tab for the evening.

Do not forget your government ID and Courtauld ID to access the discount.

Students under the age of 18 will not be served alcoholic beverages.

Location: 2nd Floor

Find out about joining societies, being part of the Students’ Union Parliament, relevant university departments, jobs opportunities, and local businesses.

15:00-17:00 - Paint your tote and sketchbook session

Location: First Floor Group Study Room

Alongside the busy Freshers’ Faire, students of all cohorts are also invited to decompress at a quieter craft session to personalize your Courtauld totebag. The session is hosted by the SU in the First Floor Group Study Room.

All crafts supplies will be provided, do not forget to bring your own Courtauld Tote Bag.

This is a FREE event, no RSVP needed. The room will stay open for the entire duration of the event.

16:00-17:00 - Courtauld Future's Introduction

This event is for all Scholarship and Bursary holders.

11:00-13:30 - Peer-to-Peer Brunch

Location: Common Room & Courtyard (weather dependent)

This event is open to all BA1 students. Each student will be matched in advance with a returning student who will act as their Peer Mentor.

The event will run in two separate sessions:

Session A: 11:00-12:00

Session B: 12:30 – 13:30

BA1 students and mentors will be notified in advance about which session to attend.

A wonderful opportunity to experience our Gallery at Somerset House.
