Discover the Courtauld gallery anew through yoga, meditation and sound with Oru Space.
Each special event, in collaboration with Oru Space, will use the Courtauld collection and its relationship to the elements as a springboard, weaving together the threads of mindfulness, artistic wonder and human creativity to offer attendees a transformative journey —a journey where we can leave feeling more nurtured, inspired and balanced.
These unique events, curated as artful escapes from the everyday, will marry the practice of yoga with the awe-inspiring art and architecture of the Courtauld. We invite attendees to move round their mats with fluidity, encouraging a dialogue between the poses and the artworks on display. The mats themselves become a canvas for wellbeing, self-discovery and appreciating cultural heritage.
Join us to ignite your imagination, look deeper at the works on display and see further through immersion and introspection.
These events are open to all levels and include an introduction to the Courtauld collection, a 60 minute yoga class and 30 minute sound bath. We ask that attendees bring their own mat and props, and encourage you to bring comfy items such as blankets or pillows for the sound bath.
This class will include an introduction from Leyla Bumbra to The Griffin Catalyst Exhibition Seurat and the Sea.
This class will be led by:
Miriam Brightbart
For Miriam, yoga is so much more than a movement practice. It is a transformative life practice that can help you form a deeper sense of connection with your body, your mind, your consciousness, and in turn with the world around you. Miriam’s intention is to teach this practice in a warm, inclusive and curious way, that empowers you to tune into your inner world and feel what’s best for you – moment to moment. In Miriam’s classes you can expect to be challenged, encouraged and guided through thoughtful, contemplative sequences that weave together asana, philosophy, breath and embodied exploration. Miriam also loves using sound as a vehicle for deep rest, and for coming back to our bodies as a living field of sensation. She is endlessly curious about the incredible human body, nervous system regulation and neuroscience, quantum physics and energy, and the power of movement and mindfulness to shift our state. You will find all of these influences present in her teaching, as well as light hearted reminders to move from a curious place, not a critical one.
