To celebrate Abstract Erotic: Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, Alice Adams, The Research Forum is hosting a special morning of mindfulness, including an exhibition tour, meditation focusing on ekagrata (one-object) and a sound bath surrounded by impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces.

Take the time to experience the extraordinary sculptures by Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse and Alice Adams with Courtauld’s Leyla Bumbra. Three pioneering artists of the 20th century who, in 1960s New York, produced startling new bodies of work turning modern sculpture on its head.

Through Victoria’s meditation we will further understand the ways in which these works foregrounded their shared commitment to using humour and abstract form. Through slow looking you will be able to ask important questions and take deeper meaning away from the works.

The early morning view will end with a sound bath hosted by Sophie in The Courtauld’s LVMH Great room. Allowing space for reflection, guests will be able to rethink how they feel in the space. They can ask how being mindful in the space challenges our preconceived binaries of masculine/feminine. Being immersed can ultimately cultivate a safe space to consider these structures, encouraging reinterpretation of the works in the space and beyond.

Guests will be asked to sit or lie on the floor so please bring a yoga mat to fully immerse yourself.

This event is organised by The Research Forum.
