Wed 19 June 2024, 18:00 – 22:00
For the second 2024 instalment of the Morgan Stanley Lates with Somerset House and The Courtauld series, visitors can experience another true site-wide takeover.
Taking place three times per year – in April, June and October – these special one-off nights out offer after-hours access and activities hosted by artists and curators, plus delicious food pop-ups and bars, and DJ sets to see you through the evening.
Join us to enjoy a summer of art at The Courtauld Gallery. Explore the evocative documentary images of young people growing up in Britain in the mid-1950s and ’60s in Roger Mayne: Youth, our temporary displays Vanessa Bell: A Pioneer of Modern Art, Henry Moore: Shadows on the Wall, and Good Morning, Midnight, and entry to our world-renowned permanent collection.
Hear musical performances inspired by the Good Morning, Midnight display, take part in drop-in drawing workshops inspired by Vanessa Bell and Henry Moore, and join a curator tour to dive into the world of Roger Mayne’s photography.
There will be a range of activities across Somerset House on the evening. Coinciding with The Lore of LOVERBOY exhibition, the June Late will feature live performance from three bands that speak to Charles Jeffrey’s unique aesethetic – Baby’s Berserk, Ray Laurél and headliners Walt Disco, whose set also features a movement piece by contemporary choreographers Courtney Dean and Jacob Samuel, who together form the creative duo BULLYACHE.
There will also be DJ sets from Charles Jeffrey himself throughout the night. Deeney’s will be serving up fresh toasties with inspired Scottish flavours.
All courtyard activities will be free of charge to everyone, whilst after-hours exhibition entry will also be free to those aged 25 and under.
