For the first 2023 instalment of the Morgan Stanley Lates with Somerset House and The Courtauld series, visitors can experience another true site-wide takeover with exclusive live performances and experiences themed around current exhibitions.

Taking place three times per year only – in April, June and the autumn– these special one-off nights out offer after-hours access and activities hosted by artists and curators, plus delicious food pop-ups and bars, and DJ sets to see you through the evening.

Join us on Weds 19 April to explore The Courtauld Gallery’s latest five-star temporary exhibition, The Morgan Stanley Exhibition: Peter Doig and our Arabian Nights Project Space display, either alone or guided by a curator available exclusively for this event.

Take part in an immersive drawing workshop surrounded by masterpieces in our LVMH Great Room, experience poetry performances by The Courtauld’s Decolonising Action Groups and listen to a special talk from contemporary rug producers Christopher Farr, Dr Darren Clarke of Charleston and Courtauld experts about working with artworks from The Courtauld’s collection of Omega Workshop designs.

All courtyard activities will be free of charge to everyone, whilst after-hours exhibition entry will also be free to those aged 25 and under. Activities inside exhibitions will incur any applicable exhibition entry fees on the evening.

There will be a range of activities across Somerset House on the evening including a new courtyard commission from the Mumbai based artist Jitish Kallat in his first major public commission in the UK. Daytimers, the collective at the heart of the re-emerging South Asian underground, will also present a takeover spotlighting and celebrating some of the most exciting South Asian poets operating in the scene right now, alongside showcasing live classical musicians.

Visit the Somerset House website for their full programme details.
