Monet in Mind: Curator in Conversation

Fancy yourself as an expert on Monet? Or would like an introduction to his work? Join Dr Karen Serres, Curator of Paintings at The Courtauld for an informative and entertaining short talk to accompany Monet in Mind, the latest exhibition from Ferens Art Gallery in partnership with The Courtauld. Karen will be in conversation with Future Ferens and answering questions on Monet’s artistic practice, his inspirations, and excursions to the South of France.

Monet’s Antibes was chosen to be the lead painting for the exhibition following a public vote and is central to the exhibition’s themes of mindfulness, slow looking and creativity. Monet in Mind is a showcase of the talents of the Future Ferens, a 16-25 year old volunteer group, who worked in collaboration with the Gallery on all aspects of curation, design and promotion of this immersive exhibition.

For the past three years, Karen has been involved in ensuring that The Courtauld’s collection remains accessible whilst the Gallery is closed for a major transformation. In this time, she has co-curated the exhibitions The Courtauld Collection: A Vision for Impressionism at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris (2019) and Masterpieces of Impressionism. The Courtauld Collection, a touring exhibition of Japan in 2019-20.
