In a departure from our usual format, the Sacred Traditions & the Arts Seminar is partnering with Art + Christianity and the Dean’s Office at King’s College London, who are hosting a film screening and discussion in the Chapel at King’s.

‘Call to Holy Ground’ is a short (20 minute) film commissioned by A+C as part of the Call to Holy Ground project which took place in Leytonstone, east London in 2020–21. It explores the intersections of belief, sanctuary and nature.

This event will be a chance to see the 20 min film before a panel discussion featuring the artist Isik Sayarer, lecturer in modern Asian Religions Dr Karen O’Brien Kop (KCL), and Director of A+C Laura Moffatt.

“The video is a pilgrimage through the elements, with elders and artists, exploring the sacred essence, and the connection with the inner landscape. The work becomes a bridge between faiths, generations, spiritual and ecological practices, bringing together the processes of ‘forming the new scripture’ and the importance of the everyday sacred act, and its role in a larger constellation of acts.”

There will be the opportunity for audience members to ask questions and refreshments will be available.

This event has passed.
