Decolonising Action Groups – Thursday 13 April

The Decolonising Action Groups at The Courtauld discuss the concept and practice of decolonisation. These collaborative sessions aim to provide opportunities for staff, students, and faculty to integrate the practice of decolonisation into their lives and into the disciplines of Art History, Curating, and Conservation. These groups will create safe space for discussion, questioning, and provocation around the purpose of decolonisation and its potential impact on The Courtauld’s structure, teaching, and public output. The groups will offer the chance for those involved to share concerns, questions, and suggestions with those in positions of power at The Courtauld in order to enact change. We would like to invite you to an introduction to the scheme for BA History of Art offer holders only – no prior knowledge is necessary!

For these online drop-in sessions, we will be discussing ‘Decolonizing Art History’ by Catherine Grant and Dorothy Price. The article can be access here for free: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1111/1467-8365.12490
