This mixed-media portrait is a personal response to Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear. It is designed to draw the viewer in to look closer at the collage of ears that have been individually cut out from magazines. The use of bandages for the shirt reflects back to the significance of the bandage in Van Gogh’s painting. Pencil crayon has been used for the hair and facial features to create a contrast between the materials used.
