I chose to create this piece because I know of Van Gogh’s love for flowers. Although his self portrait was made in a troubled time, I saw the colour within it. My painting is made by using the colours found in Van Gogh’s skin tone – specifically his cheeks.
I also have a great love for the natural world and this painting represents how I perceive myself at my happiest, as well as how I perceived Van Gogh to be feeling in this moment.
