This section is designed as a listening activity which can be used with a whole class. Focussing on artist Édouard Manet, learners are encouraged to listen out for key facts in order to answer the questions on their corresponding worksheet.

Extension activity
Create an artist’s biography timeline
This activity can be extended for higher level ESOL learners by supporting further online research into their chosen artist and asking them to create a biographical timeline. Learners can use collaged text and images independently, or in collaboration with other learners.
Learners can then be encouraged to present their timeline, whilst the rest of the group listen carefully and ask relevant questions.
