Student Accommodation for 2024/25

Please note the information on this and subsequent accommodation pages applies to the 2024/25 academic year.  Please review these pages regularly for updates.   

The Courtauld is able to offer accommodation for up to 182 Courtauld students in a mix of halls of residences offering self-catering and catered options. All halls are located within a commutable travel time of 30 minutes of our Somerset House and Vernon Square premises. Accommodation available for 2024/25 is distributed as follows:

  • Courtauld – Duchy House (63 rooms) open to applications from Postgraduate offer holders and continuing Courtauld students.
  • University of London – Intercollegiate Halls of Residence – (44 rooms) open to applications from Postgraduate offer holders and continuing Courtauld students.
  • King’s College London Halls of Residence  (up to 75 rooms) open to Undergraduate Offer Holders only.

BA1 Undergraduates – UPDATE 7 JULY 2024:
The deadline for applying for a room in KCL Residences has now passed.  If you are still in need of accommodation for 2024/25 please contact us as we may have some availability remaining in our Intercollegiate Halls allocation that we may be able to offer you.
Postgraduate Offer Holders and Current Courtauld students – UPDATE 7 JULY 2024:
We have allocated all our rooms in Duchy House for 2024/25, and have also also assigned most of the rooms in our University of London Intercollegiate Halls allocation.   As of 7 July 2024, we have a handful of room unallocated in Intercollegiate Hall for allocation.  Please contact us for details.
For those applicants offered accommodation in Intercollegiate Halls, your details have been passed to the University of London Accommodation Team.  The UoL team will make direct contact with you inviting you to register on their Accommodation Portal to review and accept your room offer and pay your deposit which you requested to do within seven days of receipt of your offer.

The Accommodation application period for Postgraduate Offer Holders and Current Courtauld students for 24/25 has now closed. 
Whilst we cannot accept any further applications via our online portal, if you do still require accommodation for 24/25, please contact us as we may have some room availability remaining.

If you have not secured a room in Halls for 2024/25 and are still seeking accommodation the following assistance is available: The University of London Housing Services Team have a property database to help you find student housing in London. The accommodation is provided by private landlords, letting agents, private halls and other providers of private housing.

Allocation of Halls

Courtauld – Duchy House (63 rooms) open to applications from postgraduate offer holders and current BA1 and BA2 and continuing MA Courtauld students.

University of London – Intercollegiate Halls of Residence – (44 rooms) open to applications from current BA2 and BA3 undergraduates, continuing MA postgraduates and postgraduate offer holders.

Kings Residences 75 rooms across split equally across three Halls, Angel Lane, Altas and Canada Water will be available for 2024/25.  Rooms in these Halls are reserved for first year (BA1) undergraduate offer holders only.

Contracts to live in halls commence mid-September 2024, and the duration varies between 37 and 40 weeks depending on the provider and the Hall.  See summary tables below for further details.

All first year international students and UK students living outside of Greater London joining The Courtauld in September 2024, are guaranteed accommodation in Halls.  For current Courtauld students and new postgraduate students, allocation of a room in halls will be primarily based on several factors including (but not limited to), whether you have a particular disability that would mean not having accommodation in Halls would put you at more of a disadvantage than a non-disabled student; the distance of your family home (not current place of study) from our central London campus; whether you have previously studied in the UK.

Duchy House is open to applications from postgraduate offer holders and current BA1, BA2 and continuing MA Courtauld students.  Based on current semester and course submission dates for 2024/25,  we will be offering both undergraduate and postgraduate students living in Duchy House a 37-week contract.  The option to extend for part or all of the summer period i.e. from early June through to early September 2025, is available upon request.

Note: *Suitable for wheelchair user; **Bathroom shared between 2 residents; Catered includes breakfast (brunch at weekends) and dinner daily.  Contract length in all Intercollegiate Halls is 40 weeks commence 15 September 2024 through to 21 June 2025.  The University of London will allow early arrivals from 1 September 2024, subject to room availability.  If you secure a room in University of London Halls, and wish to book early arrival you will need to contact info.halls@london.ac.uk to check availability and book.

Students who are not successful if being initially offered a room in Intercollegiate Halls can register on the University’s waiting list from 22 August 2024 with offers being sent from 4 September 2024.

There are up to 75 rooms reserved for Courtauld BA1 students.  These will likely to be split equally between Angel Lane, Atlas and Canada Water.  The 75 rooms available will be secured on a first come basis.  Should there be more than 75 applications received, a waiting list will be created for the 76th applicant onwards. If you are placed on a waiting list, you will be informed and will be contacted should a vacant room arise as a result of withdrawals or conditional offer holders not being able to take up their place of study, the later will not be known until w/c 19 August 2024.  The waiting list will be shared with the Courtauld Accommodation Team, who will monitor the list and anyone on the list living outside of Greater London, we will make contact with you to discuss alternative accommodation options.

Courtauld Housing Group

This is a facebook page for prospective and current Courtauld students.  The group provides housing links to students who have not been allocated housing as well as for current students looking to rent or advertise.   This Facebook group is administered by the Courtauld’s Students’ Union Office.
