During the academic year, Duchy House is a Halls of Residence for students studying at The Courtauld. Over the summer period, once term time ends, our rooms are available to book for those seeking basic and affordable Central London accommodation whilst visiting, studying, or attending business.
The building is secured by a card entry system covering the main entrance door and internal corridor doors, and all bedrooms have individual key locks. Furthermore, a member of staff is on duty 24/7, and the property has 24-hour CCTV coverage for the main staircase, making Duchy House a safe place to stay.
Our rooms are always available to book, but our commercial period extends from Friday 6th June 2025 to Sunday 7th September 2025 inclusive. For links to our booking platforms, please see below.
Why Duchy House?
Each floor features a communal kitchen for basic self-catering, and common rooms are available on the Second and Third Floors. An onsite laundry facility is also available for use in the lower basement, but please note there is no lift access to this area.
Duchy House offers both single and double occupancy bedrooms, and guests can choose between en-suite or shared bathroom facilities.
All our bedrooms are equipped with a wardrobe with a full length mirror, a desk and chair, and a small fridge. We also provide complimentary bottled water, towels, and basic toiletries, including hairdryers upon request.
The windows in all bedrooms facing the street are fitted with secondary glazing, to alleviate any concerns regarding noise from the Central London nightlife. Furthermore, guests may request rear facing rooms via our booking platforms, though these are subject to availability.
We accept both short and long stays, from a single night up to thirty nights. Excluding cleaning costs, our rates typically range from £80 to £140 per night depending on room type and length of stay. However, discounts are available for advance bookings and long stays of over twenty nights.
