The Centre for American Art

The Centre for American Art at The Courtauld was established in September 2016 with the help of a generous grant from the Terra Foundation for American Art. The Centre exists to support and develop research in the field of American art of all periods...

Clusters are The Courtauld’s scholarly community working to support and develop research in specific disciplines. They curate a range of lectures and conferences, bringing together students and research, expanding the horizons of scholarship at The Courtauld.

Groups are our community of scholars working on thematic disciplines, encouraging the exchange of research and ideas on subjects and themes amongst scholars, curators, and conservators, both nationally and internationally. They host discussions, seminars, handling sessions and site visits.

Research Projects and Event Series

Our Research projects highlight our recent research outputs with other organisations and research groups.

Our Event Series focus on particular topics, themes, media, or geographical locations which our faculty and researchers are working on.
