Pu, Lan is a wall painting conservator, engaged in examining sustainable methods for preserving Buddhist heritage through an interdisciplinary approach. Her research areas primarily focus on wall paintings in the Himalayas and other related regions, with special attention paid to religious domains in Bhutan and Tibet. Her research explores painting technology, deterioration processes, conservation treatments, and the sociocultural survival of sacred objects. She recently engages in exploring the application of Buddhist epistemology in Buddhist heritage preservation under decolonial contexts. Her recent research examines the geographical and chronological development of Himalayan painting technologies and their historical implications.
Lan obtained her PhD in History of Art and MA in Wall Painting Conservation from the Courtauld. Prior to this, she completed her MA in Buddhist Studies at the University of Hong Kong and BA in Graphic Design and Arts at the University State of California, San Bernardino.
