Exhibition dates: 24 September 2025 – August 2027
Artists including Yinka Shonibare, Jeff Wall, Pipilotti Rist and more are now on display for the 16th edition of the East Wing Biennial, RE: VISION , which opened at The Courtauld Institute of Art’s Vernon Square campus in King’s Cross on 24 September 2025.
Founded in 1991 in the East Wing of Somerset House by Joshua Compston, the student-led exhibition is dedicated to displaying contemporary art in The Courtauld Institute of Art. It reflects the ideas, concerns and creative ambitions of The Courtauld’s student body.
Following a brief hiatus during The Courtauld’s temporary relocation, the Biennial was revived in 2023 with its inaugural edition at The Courtauld’s Vernon Square campus. Over its 16 editions, the project has developed into an exciting forum for young curators and vital conversations.
RE:VISION brings together artists who respond to the past, reconciling it with the present to avoid the pitfalls of history. Their work resists erasure and reclaims autonomy by challenging what endures and what expires; rethinking, reinventing and reconstructing to instigate the potential for the future to change
Through a wide-ranging selection of contemporary artworks and an exciting programme of events throughout 2025-2027, RE:VISION urges visitors to interrogate and question: Who writes history? Who has the right to revise it? And how can art destabilise these narratives?
