Courtauld 100

Following the successful completion of our Gallery transformation in 2021, the opening of the Leon Kossoff Learning Centre, and the return of our Conservation students to a refurbished Linbury Conservation Centre, the journey to realise our vision as the world’s leading centre for studying and appreciating the visual arts continues.

As we stand on the threshold of our second century, we have a unique opportunity to evolve once more by dramatically expanding our physical home and our global impact. We will build on the Courtauld’s extraordinary legacy in three interconnected ways:

Creating a New Home: reimagining and redeveloping our campus at Somerset House, building a world-class home for our ground-breaking research and teaching.

Welcoming New Voices: opening up access by broadening our community, breaking down the barriers to art education, and nurturing a new generation of arts leaders who will go on to set the cultural agenda of tomorrow.

Inspiring New Thinking: significantly expanding the scope of our world-leading education and programming – and sharing it with a global audience in accessible and exciting ways.

The new campus project is made possible through the recent visionary gift from the Reuben Foundation and the generous long-standing support of the Blavatnik Family Foundation. Additional transformational support is provided by the Deborah Loeb Brice Foundation, the Clore Duffield Foundation, the Foyle Foundation, Oak Foundation, The Julia Rausing Trust, Rothschild Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, Georgia and David Winter and the Wolfson Foundation. The Courtauld is most grateful to these foundational supporters, alongside others who have already committed to the redevelopment of our home at Somerset House.
