Summer School 2020
The Summer School welcomes everyone over the age of 18. We regret that child protection legislation prevents us from including participants under the age of 18. No previous art-historical training is necessary.
Each course is entirely free-standing, but we have balanced the programme in such a way that you may pursue a particular period or subject over two or more weeks.

Programme and Courses
The programme offers 32 courses, each of which runs for a week from Monday to Friday. Classes are held in The Courtauld Institute of Art lecture theatres and seminar rooms at Vernon Square, and in front of works of art in museum and gallery collections and at sites in London and beyond.
The courses focus intensively on topics taken from a broad range of periods, from medieval to contemporary art, and of regions, from Europe and North America to China, Brazil and South Asia. Classroom sessions are combined with the close study of individual objects during visits to galleries, museums and other sites, and sometimes include privileged access to collections. No written work is set although there is suggested pre-course reading. The classes offer plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions and aim to be both scholarly and enjoyable.
