The Courtauld Friends are warmly invited to join the Patrons of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment to a Recital, a visit to the Objects Room looking at prints and a Champagne reception.
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is a British period instrument orchestra founded in 1986. The OAE is a resident orchestra of the Southbank Centre, London, associate orchestra at Glyndebourne Festival Opera and has its headquarters at Kings Place. The leadership is rotated between three musicians: Matthew Truscott, Kati Debretzeni and Margaret Faultless, who will be playing for us tonight with three other members of the orchestra.
Ketty Gottardo, Martin Halusa Curator of Drawings, and her team will show you works of art that are related to the music in the recital in our Objects Room before the recital.
Charlotte De Mille, Paul Mellon Mid-career Fellow, curator, writer, lecturer and arts educator; specialist in European modernism, and intersections of art, music and philosophy, will introduce the music and the relationship to the art works.
6.30 – 7.30pm Champagne reception and small group visits to the Objects room
7.30 – 8.30pm Recital* led by lead violinist Maggie Faultless and presentation by Charlotte DeMille
8.30 – 9.00pm Continuation of reception
- More details to follow on the music that will be performed but it will be loosely related to If Music Be The Food Of Love, Curse Me concert performed by the OAE on 26 April 2020 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London.
