Dr Levitt says: ‘This is an exciting time for Art History and for The Courtauld. We never stop learning, and images, words and ideas are such a vital part of education and communication at every stage and in all contexts. It is a real privilege to be taking on this leading role, working with a world-class team of colleagues across departments with a combined enthusiasm for researching, teaching and sharing art with as many people as possible.’

Professor Deborah Swallow, Märit Rausing Director of The Courtauld says: “I am thrilled that Caroline is stepping into the role as Head of Art History at this important time. She is a greatly respected member of our teaching and research community,  and will play a leading role in the transformation of our art history curricula at all levels. She will be working with the current Head of Art History, Professor Jo Applin, to ensure a seamless transition into the 2021/22 academic year.”
