ARTiculation Prize 2017 – London Quarter Finals

20 Jan 2017

The Courtauld Institute of Art hosted the London Quarter Finals of ARTiculation Prize 2017 on 18 January, with 10 schools and colleges participating in the event.  The ARTiculation Prize is an annual event designed by the Roche Court Educational Trust to promote the appreciation and discussion of art. Students aged between 16 – 19 years old were invited to deliver a ten minute presentation in front of an audience about a work of art, artefact or architecture of their choice.  Participants also received a guided tour of the The Courtauld Gallery Collection.

Dr Barnaby Wright, Deputy Head of The Courtauld Gallery and Daniel Katz Curator of 20th Century Art, who adjudicated the quarter finals, congratulated joint winners Alex and Helen on their outstanding presentations. The students had chosen to present Ed Ruscha’s The Music From the Balconies (1984) and Berndnaut Smilde’s Nimbus Sankt Peter (2014) art work.

The joint winners will be progressing to the Regional Heat at the National Gallery next month.
