Poppy, aged 17
Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s painting Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear, and exploring my interpretation of ‘sense of self’; I created this piece which speaks greatly about my groundings in which made me the person I am today. I wanted to show the lens in which I used to view the world when I was a child. Filled with bright colours and a simplistic background which contrasts against the main focus of the painting: me with my childhood best friend Rosie’s dog by my side. I wanted my painting to show the gentle familiarity and companionship between me and her, along with nostalgia of what once was.
