Throughout the Courtauld Connects transformational project, The Courtauld’s teaching and learning spaces have relocated to Vernon Square. Situated within a short walk from King’s Cross St. Pancras Station, our new campus boasts two large and newly-installed lecture theatres in addition to a range of seminar and meeting rooms. However, an additional lecture theatre and seminar room remain available for hire at Somerset House.
With our fully-equipped AV set up and free WiFi, these spaces are perfect for all-day conferences or training sessions, as well as ad hoc debates, film screenings, or lectures.

Availability
We offer use of three types of rooms at Vernon Square: our Seminar Rooms, our Lecture Theatres, and our Research Forum.
All are available for both Full Day and Half-Day rates, Monday through to Sunday; Full Day rates encompass 8am to 6pm, while Half Day rates cover 8am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm.
The premises is open between 8am and 9pm, with room availability subject to core teaching and university-related events. Availability increases during our Semester breaks, which are:

Equipment and Support
All rooms are equipped with projectors, screens (excluding laptops), and microphones, ensuring seamless hybrid meetings.
Our IT Team is available for technical support upon request, at £15.43 per hour.
For larger events, Student Staff are available to assist at £13.77 per hour.
Overnight Accommodation
The Courtauld Institute of Art has it’s own accommodation, Duchy House. Situated next to Somerset House on The Strand, it is an ideal distance from Vernon Square and all The Courtauld has to offer. Over the Summer period, we are open to commercial guests. If you are interested in over-night accommodation for your event, please see here.
Catering
Our on-site Frequency Café offers an array of spreads featuring a variety of foods, from sandwiches to cakes and pastries. You can find our Catering Menu Order Form below.

We provide a 20% discount on hire rates for organizations related to Universities, Museums, and Gallery charities.
Accessibility
All of our rooms at our Vernon Square campus are accessible for wheelchair users. Access to rooms in Somerset House are subject to some restrictions. Please get in touch here if you are seeking to hire our spaces and you may have attendees with particular access issues.
Capacity and Styles
Theatre/Lecture Style
Theatre / Lecture style layouts in a large seminar room can facilitate 40-50 people
Boardroom Style
This style allows a capacity of 16-24 people in our large seminar rooms
U-Shape Style
A U-Shape layout can hold 16-20 people in our large seminar rooms
Cabaret Style
If a cabaret style arrangement is more suited to your event, this large meeting room can facilitate 18 people
Informal
An informal layout can also be arranged, which allows more standing space.
For our large seminar rooms, standing arrangements allow 60 people.
