Join us for the launch of immediations no. 17 in its first-ever online iteration. To debut our 2020 issue and celebrate its contents, this informal event will feature speakers from the journal’s contributors and from members of the Editorial board. Through a series of short interventions, the speakers will introduce a selection of features from the journal and expand on them by means of videos, images and text, taking us beyond their articles and behind the scenes of the journal itself.
In its seventeenth year, immediations continues to showcase and support the research of postgraduate and early career researchers at The Courtauld. The 2020 issue, featuring six articles that span from the Byzantine world to the contemporary post-Anthropocene and five exhibition reviews, is an important testament to the resilience of all its contributors. The journal raises questions regarding tradition, institutions and artistic practice, also in conversation with contemporary artists. Our cover work by the artist collective Slavs and Tatars, Kitab Kebab (Fatima et Marie) (2020), created especially for immediations, and the verso cover Pavement Prose: Język lata jak łopata (2016) are unpacked in the journal in a discussion between Payam Sharifi of Slavs and Tatars and Bella Radenović and Chelsea Pierce from the editorial board. Featured in this number is also a conversation between Associate Editor Laura Franchetti and London-based artist Flora Yukhnovich.
Organised by Ambra D’Antone (The Courtauld) and Erica Payet (The Courtauld)
