Film Screening: The New Bauhaus (2019)

The New Bauhaus (2019) is a documentary film that offers an intimate, emotional journey through Moholy-Nagy’s life and his work as an artist, designer, visionary, and teacher. The film will be introduced by Robin Schuldenfrei, who served as Research Consultant and interviewee in the film. Following the screening, there will be time for  a Q&A with the audience.

The New Bauhaus is directed by Alysa Nahmias. The film is produced by Petter Ringbom, Erin Wright and Alysa Nahmias, and executive produced by Marquise Stillwell, Grace Colby and Lynda Weinman. It’s edited by Miranda Yousef, ACE, and shot by Petter Ringbom.

Robin Schuldenfrei is the Tangen Reader in 20th Century Modernism at The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. She has written widely on modernism as it intersects with theories of the object, architecture, urbanism and especially on the Bauhaus. Her publications include Luxury and Modernism: Architecture and the Object in Germany 1900-1933 (Princeton University Press, 2018) as well as numerous articles, essays and edited volumes, including Iteration: Episodes in the Mediation of Art and Architecture (2020) and the co-edited volumes, Bauhaus Construct: Fashioning Identity, Discourse, and Modernism (2009) and Ascendants: Bauhaus Handprints Collected by László Moholy-Nagy (2019).
