Tuition Fees

Financial matters are a concern for all students, and it is advised to plan ahead thoroughly to ensure you have the finances to complete your studies. In addition to paying tuition fees for the programme you are undertaking, you will need to cover your living expenses. As such you are encouraged to ensure that your Tuition Fee Status Assessment is correct and explore the possibility of securing funding.

The Courtauld Institute of Art’s Tuition Fee rates are set annually and cover enrolment, tuition and supervision for each academic year or term that you are enrolled as a student. Tuition fees are subject to change each academic year.

UG Home Fees: The Courtauld chooses to set its fee for Home undergraduates at the maximum level for the institute set by the UK government. The fee for 2026-27 entry has not yet been announced by the UK government but it is assumed that the fee will remain the same or be slightly higher than the 2025-26 fee of £9,275.  The 2026-27 fee is provisional until the UK government confirms the fee. The Courtauld reserves the right to increase tuition fees annually in line with the Consumer Price Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) to take account of The Courtauld’s increased costs of delivering educational services.

**Overseas Part-Time Fees: Please be aware that it is not possible to undertake Part-Time study if you require a Student VISA to study with us, due to VISA regulation restrictions

Fee status

Publicly funded higher-education institutions in the UK typically charge two tiers of fees – a lower ‘UK’ fee, and a higher ‘Overseas’ fee.

Your fee status can be determined by various criteria, often tied to residency as well as nationality or citizenship.

Find out about fee status here.

General Associated Programme Costs

Programmes in the History of Art and Conservation departments often include local, UK and occasionally international study trips and fieldwork. Travel grants are available to cover the cost of these study trips, and there is a budget for exhibition entrance charges. Students will need to cover local travel costs in London for site or exhibition visits. International students may have to apply for visas for international travel, and module leaders will be in touch as early as possible to make students aware of this.

Other associated programme costs are typical to programmes in the humanities, such as the use of a laptop or computer, printer credits, travel to campus or local visits and graduation. Students may wish to purchase their own copies of some relevant reading materials, but all set texts are supplied through the Courtauld’s Library and Virtual Learning Environment. See Library webpage for more details on the range of resources available.

For further information about associated programme costs, please see the individual Programme webpages, or contact the Programme Leader.
