Why Duchy House?
A 30-to-40 minute walk to our Vernon Square premises, Duchy House is located next door to Somerset House, on the corner of The Strand and Lancaster Place. The premises offers easy access to London’s key attractions, including Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Oxford Street, West End Theatres, and the Southbank. Various recreational activities are also close by, including cinemas, music venues, and several galleries such as The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, to Tate Modern and our own Courtauld Gallery.

Occupancy
Duchy House offers 63 single occupancy self-catered rooms across four floors, with six different room types. A summary of these are displayed in the table below. Based on our semester and course assessment periods, Duchy House will offer 38-week contracts (21 September 2026 to 5 June 2027), which cover vacation periods between Autumn, Spring, and Summer semesters. The option of a 50-week contract (21 September 2026 to 4 September 2027) is also available.

Due to some external maintenance work, scaffolding may be installed to the street facing external façade in April/May 2027 and will be in place until September 2027.
