Xinrui Zhang

Associate Lecturer

Xinrui Zhang is undertaking her PhD in History of Art at the University of York. Her research project examines the relationship between art and environmental activism in contemporary China. Her peer-reviewed journal articles on contemporary art and visual culture have been published in the Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art and Aspectus. She has taught art history at York and delivered papers on various topics in Chinese pre-modern and contemporary art at international conferences. She holds an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art and a BA in History of Art (Asia, Africa and Europe) from SOAS. Before starting her PhD, she worked as a curator in London. She had previously worked at Christie’s.
