In my PhD I argued that the myth of 1966-72’s ‘dematerialisation’ was bogus and what emerged in the period were new conceptions of materiality. The artists included Dan Graham, Robert Smithson, Warhol and Isa Genzken, leading to a concern with more recent contexts. My book 3D Warhol explores Warhol’s relation to sculpture.
