Graeme Barraclough

Chief Conservator

Graeme Barraclough completed a first degree in Art History and Architecture at the University of East Anglia in 1987. After gaining one year’s experience in conservation by volunteering at the Castle Museum, Norwich he was admitted onto the Easel Painting Conservation Diploma course at the Courtauld Institute, London. Graduating in 1991 he then completed a one year internship and one year’s further employment at the Royal Collection. From there he moved to English Heritage where he was employed as a painting conservator from 1994-2003. In 2003 he moved to the Courtauld Gallery as Gallery conservator; becoming Chief Conservator in 2010.
