The Award Committee of the American Society for Hispanic Art Historical has voted unanimously for Toledo Cathedral: Building Histories in Medieval Castile (University Park: Pennsylvania State University Press, [2015]), by Dr Tom Nickson, Lecturer in Medieval Art and Architecture at The Courtauld Institute of Art.
The annual award, established in 1992 to honour Professor Tufts’ contributions to the study of Spanish art history, recognizes an outstanding English-language publication in the area of Spanish or Portuguese art history.
The committee agreed that through its careful attention to the complex and dynamic relationships inherent to a living space, this publication epitomizes the very best of art historical scholarship and will be an essential source to a wide range of future studies. The book meets and exceeds the rigorous criteria of the Tufts Award.
