Visit of documenta 14, Kassel

Sat 11 Sep, 2021

We are delighted to offer a joint visit of documenta 14 in Kassel. The tour will be guided by a member of the curatorial team and will be followed by lunch at boutique Hotel Renthof (http://www.renthof-kassel.de/en/) where there are also rooms available for those who wish to stay overnight.

documenta is recognized as the world’s most debated not-for-profit exhibition dedicated to contemporary art, taking place in Kassel during 100 days every five years. documenta was born in 1955 by Arnold Bode out of the sense of cultural urgency felt in post-World War II Germany, a decade after Nazi rule had been brought to an end. For documenta 14, Artistic Director Adam Szymczyk, has proposed a twofold structure, in which Kassel and Athens are hosting the exhibition on equal footing, so that documenta’s hitherto undisputed position of the host will be abandoned for that of a guest. The curatorial proposal, with the working title “Learning from Athens”, endeavors to encompass a multitude of voices reaching beyond the European context and to question Western epistemology.

Admission fee: EUR 22 plus lunch

Booking: Please RSVP at your earliest convenience to alumni@courtauld.ac.uk.
