Kyle Leyden, Courtauld PhD student of Prof. Christine Stevenson and Prof. Katie Scott, will give an expert guided tour of the history and architecture of Somerset House.

Kyle has conducted many tours and has done thorough research of Somerset House and it is one of his favourite buildings. Somerset House has given The Friends will have exclusive access to some areas not normally open to the public such as the Deadhouse (underneath the courtyard), The King’s Barge and, weather permitting, the roof of the South wing.

This promises to be a really in-depth and interesting tour of this historic building where the The Courtauld Gallery has its home.

Kyle Leyden is an AHRC-CHASE funded Ph.D. Candidate at the Courtauld Institute and specialises in early eighteenth-century Irish architecture with significant project development, historic research, curatorial, historic interpretative and site managerial experience in the heritage sector in Northern Ireland. Substantial experience of matters of public policy; historic preservation and planning; public access and interpretation; public relations and advertising; and charitable funding for historic sites and significant work with public and private funding bodies. Kyle has done considerable research and academic experience in the area of Irish and British architecture 1600-1950
