The Courtauld will be holding an open day on 16 January 2017 for prospective volunteers interested in participating in our Photographic Library Digitisation Project. The Courtauld’s Conway Photographic Library includes almost a million images dating from the inception of photography to the present day. This project will involve the digitisation, cataloging, conservation and publication of these collections online to a public audience. This project is one of a number of activities supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) as part of a major transformation programme called Courtauld Connects.
The aim of this volunteer role is to support the digitisation project over its first six month developmental phase by testing our assumptions about how many images can be photographed, cataloged and conserved in a typical day as well as assisting in the publication of these images online.
At the open day attendees will be able to view our photographic collections (including material not normally on display to the public), meet our staff and find out more about the volunteering opportunities available. These sessions will run from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
Please confirm your attendance by emailing Tom Bilson, Head of Digital Media, at: tom.bilson@courtauld.ac.uk, or alternatively register your interest online via our Do-it page.
