The Courtauld conference rooms come with full AV set-up and free Wi-Fi.

All Conference Rooms are bookable on a half day or full day basis only and not by the hour. Half day means any event under 4 hours and full day means any meeting over 4 hours. All rooms are subject to availability.

Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre - North Block – East Wing – Second Floor

The Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre is situated in the historic North Block of Somerset House within The Courtauld Institute of Art. With 150 fixed seats, The Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre is perfect for conferences, lectures / talks, debates, training and film screening.

The Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre provides the following audio-visual capacities supported by projectionists:

  • Data projection or slide projection (not simultaneous)
  • Use of fixed desktop computer concealed within the lectern, and/or Mac or laptop supplied by the Slide Library for data-projection (PowerPoint etc.)
  • CDs, DVDs or VHS to be played in advance in order to set sound levels.
  • Microphones: in addition to the fixed lectern mic, up to 3 table top mics OR1 wireless mic, either hand-held or lapel type.Capacity

Sackler Research Forum - North Block – East Wing – Mezzanine Floor

The Sackler Research Forum is situated in the historic North Block of Somerset House within The Courtauld Institute of Art. With a maximum capacity of 55 seats, the Sackler Research Forum can be easily set up in theatre/lecture style, boardroom or U-shape layout and is perfect for conferences, lectures, debates, training, presentations etc.

This room can also be used for refreshment breaks in conjunction with The Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre.

Room F44, located in the New Wing of Somerset House is a modern, spacious room, benefiting from natural daylight. With a capacity of 64 seats in lecture/theatre style, the room is perfect for meetings, small conferences, lectures, debates, training, presentations etc.

Conference Room F44 is set up with full AV equipment as follows:

Front Hall / Reception – North Block – Ground Floor

All our rooms within North Block – East Wing can be accessed through the spacious and welcoming Front Hall, also known as the Reception. The space is perfect for drinks reception or refreshment breaks when booked together with The Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre or The Sackler Research Forum. The Front Hall has a capacity of up to 80 – 100 people.

Student Café – North Block – East Wing – Basement

Located on the lower ground floor in a sky-lit conservatory within The Courtauld Institute of Art, the Café is the students’ social centre and is often used to host events. With a capacity of up to 90 people, the Student Café is a convenient meeting place for lunch or afternoon tea.

The Student Café is also used for lunch breaks in conjunction with The Kenneth Clark Lecture Theatre or Seminar Room 1.

FAQ

What times are the rooms available for hire?

Subject to availability our rooms are available for hire from 09:30 to 22:30 hours Monday to Sunday.  Our building and the site is locked down from 23:00 hours thus, all events must be concluded and all persons to have vacated both the building and the site by this time, including any external suppliers that may have been brought in to support an evening event.

Are your rooms accessible?

Most of our rooms are accessible for wheelchair users, though access into our building does have some restrictions.  Please advise us if you think you may have attendees with particular access requirements so that we can review and best advise on supporting and accommodating these.

Is on site parking available?

We have no on-site parking except for registered blue badge holders.  Limited on-site parking for suppliers supporting an evening event is available by prior arrangement.

How do I book a room/s for an event?

We advise planning ahead as our rooms can be in high demand at certain times of the year.  Please make initial enquiries by contacting our Accommodation Officer via facilitieshelpdesk@courtauld.ac.uk or telephone: 020 7848 2782 between the hours of 09:30 and 17:30 Monday to Friday.  Should we have availability to accommodate your event, we will forward you our Operations Form for completion.  Upon return, we will review and be able to confirm a firm quotation for hosting your event.  If our quotation is acceptable, we will forward a formal Hire Agreement for your signature and return with deposit payment to confirm your booking.

What is included in the cost of the room hire?

Each event is different and we provide a bespoke package every time. The room rates we quote include for the hire of the room, existing furniture and AV equipment (excluding laptops) within rooms.  Depending on the size and or timing of the event there may be additional costs for a Duty Manager, security, porterage and cleaning, will confirm accordingly in the Formal Hire Agreement.

Do you provide catering?

Yes.  Our on-site contracted caterers are Leafi Limited.  In addition we also have a preferred list of caterers that are able to cater for particular styles and foods.  We can liaise with them for you or you can contact them directly, whichever is convenient.

Do you provide filming/ live streaming / AV support?

Most of our rooms are equipped with projection and sound facilities. For any other audio-visual requirements we have approved external suppliers and we can also brief student helpers to support your event, in addition to providing set-up support from our AV Technical staff.

Do you have cloakroom facilities?

We do not have a dedicated cloakroom facility.  Depending on the size of your event and timing we can arrange a temporary supervised cloakroom with coat rails in our Front Hall.

Do you have an alcohol license?

Yes we do. Alcohol can be served between 11:00 and 23:00 hours Monday to Sunday. We do not have a bar on site but our approved caterers can arrange a mobile bar if required for your event.  The serving and consumption of alcohol is only permitted within the building and on our Gallery patio.  No alcohol can be served on The Upper Terrace.

Do you have Wifi?

Yes, most of our rooms are able to connect to Wifi.  Guest passwords can be arranged to connect to the network.  The connection speed for Guest wifi (Courtauld Visitor) is restricted to 10Mbps Download and 10Mbps Upload.  You can connect to our guest wifi by connecting to “Courtauld Visitor” SSID under your device’s wireless network settings.

Do you require insurance?

Yes, we require evidence to be submitted with the completed Operations Form that you have a minimum of £2 million Public Indemnity Insurance in place.  If this cannot be provided we may be unable to accommodate your event.
