European Art Part I Sale Preview

Thursday 25 October 6-7pm

Christie’s, 20 Rockefeller Plaza, New York

Alumni are warmly invited to join Laura Mathis (MA 2014), Specialist and Head of Sale, 19th Century European Art at Christie’s, for a private after-hours tour of their European Art sale.

This expertly curated sale presents a spectacular selection of European masterpieces including works by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Jules Breton, as well as a strong selection of Victorian masterworks by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones and John William Waterhouse.

Never before seen on the market is Gustave Courbet’s Femme endormie aux cheveux roux, 1864, part of a series of important and controversial paintings of nude women which he made during the middle years of the 1860s.

Please RSVP to alumni@courtauld.ac.uk by Wednesday 24 October.

We hope to see you there!
