“Thank you for your generous support of my studies at The Courtauld…I am delighted to be part of The Courtauld’s academic community at one of the world’s leading centres of art history.” Svitlana Biedarieva, PhD candidate 2015

Friends and Samuel Courtauld Society members are part of our membership charity, The Friends of The Courtauld, which has played an important role in the life and work of The Courtauld for over 45 years. It is an independent charity funded entirely through membership subscriptions and donations from over 2,200 Friends and Samuel Courtauld Society members.

The Friends’ Annual Grant

Each year the Friends make a significant grant from membership dues, donations, gift aid and investments to The Courtauld. Last year we supported amongst many other good causes the Rodin and Dance: The Essence of Movement exhibition; to read about the impact this exhibition had, please read the report. This year (1 Aug 2017 – 31 July 2018), the Friends charity is allocating over £200,000 to a wide range of essential projects at The Courtauld including:

  • The forthcoming Soutine’s Portraits: Cooks, Waiters and Bellboys exhibition (19 October 2017 – 21 January 2018)
  • Postgraduate scholarships supporting talented art historians and conservators
  • History of Art
  • Public Programmes
  • Book Library
  • Student Travel Grants
  • ResFest, our annual festival of art history

Thank you for your support as a Courtauld Friend or Samuel Courtauld Society member and for making all this possible.
