Borrowing and user accounts
Loan entitlements and borrowing
All students are entitled to 16 loans at any one time.
All loans are currently administered via our click and collect service. This service has been put in place while we have to limit reader access to the shelves to reduce the spread of coronavirus. The click and collect procedure is simple: you find the book that you need on Aleph, our online catalogue; you request it; we email you when it is ready, and you come to collect it. For instructions on how to request items through click and collect, and other information, please see our click and collect service webpage.
Logging into your Library account
You can log in remotely to your Library account to see your loans, renew items, and check the status of your account. Go to our Aleph online catalogue, and follow the ‘login’ Quicklink at the top right of the page. In the ‘username/library barcode’ field enter the barcode number that is on your student ID card. In the ‘password/library pin’ field enter your student ID number (also on your ID card).
Your Athens account
All students and staff also have an Athens account; this is separate to your account for book loans, and enables you to access electronic resources when off site. We register your account when you start your studies, but you need to complete the second part of registration which is to set a password. You will receive an automated email from Athens Eduserv at the start of your course with a link to set up your password. We can of course provide you with assistance to get your account set up and ready to use. Further information on Athens is available on our Athens webpage.
