The Courtauld receives loan funding from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund

2 Apr 2021

The Courtauld is delighted to announce that we have been successful in our application to the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, administered by Arts Council England, and have now received a loan of £3million to support our work.

This loan will be used to invest in key areas to support building resilience and future growth, and will particularly enable us to make best use of the significant opportunity presented by the reopening of The Courtauld Gallery in late 2021. It will also enable The Courtauld to make additional investments in our outreach work, including encouraging more people from underrepresented backgrounds to study art history, and interpretation and programming for the wider public.

Professor Deborah Swallow, Märit Rausing Director of The Courtauld, said: “We are thrilled to hear that we have received this loan funding via the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund. With the reopening of The Courtauld Gallery in late 2021, this funding will be crucial to us bringing our world-famous collection and our expertise and enthusiasm for art history to even more people, and we would like to thank both the Government and Arts Council England for their support.”
