In November 2021, The Courtauld Gallery will reopen the doors to its historic home in Somerset House following the first phase of a major transformation project. We are grateful for the support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund as well as generous donations from foundations, individuals and supporters around the world.
The Courtauld’s collection will be redisplayed and freshly interpreted throughout new and transformed galleries such as those devoted to the Medieval and Early Renaissance collection, 20th Century art, and the work of the Bloomsbury Group. Elegantly designed exhibition galleries will enable The Courtauld to extend its celebrated programme of international loan exhibitions, alongside research-driven, temporary projects. Accessibility is at the heart of the effort, with greatly improved visitor access throughout. A new Learning Centre and 21st century upgrades to create conservation studios are important elements of the launch.
