This is the first of two presentations by this year’s ‘Painting Pairs’. Five pairs of Research Associates, each composed of a graduate student from the department of Conservation and Technology and one studying art history or curating are presenting the results of their investigations into five paintings drawn from the Courtauld Gallery, regional and private collections. They will each report on their technical and art historical examination in a 15-20 minute presentation, plus time for questions.

14:00-14:25 Mirra Berridge paired with Damiët Schneeweisz, working on St Blaise by an unknown painter, probably 16th c. (private collection)

14:25-14:50  Si Yue Chen paired with Zofia Ksiazkiewicz, working on a landscape scene by an unknown painter, 18th c. (National Trust, Westwood Manor)

14:50-15:15 Rebecca Chipkin paired with Helen Kohn, Praxitella by Percy Wyndham Lewis, c. 1921 (Leeds Art Gallery)

15:15-15:40 Lucy Fellows paired with Kelsey Gallagher, working on a portrait of the artist’s wife by Albert Braïtou-Sala, 20th c.

15:40-16:05 Christine Wilda with Catherine Doucette, working on The Woodsman, after Gainsborough, 18th c. (private collection)

Attendees are welcome to come to just one or all of the presentations.
