The Courtauld Book Sale
The annual Book Sale is a much-anticipated and iconic event in the Courtauld calendar. The sale has had immense success in previous years, offering thousands of books at amazing prices with all proceeds (over £115,000 since its inception) going to support The Courtauld. The 2017 Book Sale alone earned over £15,000!
Due to the ongoing renovations as part of our major Courtauld Connects project, we had to rethink the usual format of the Book Sale this year. We are now planning the event for early spring 2019, when everyone is settled into our temporary new premises, Vernon Square, in the vibrant King’s Cross area.
Instead of seeing this postponement as a set-back, we see it as an interesting opportunity to make this next Book Sale an exciting, newly-invigorated event – which will serve as both an inaugural ‘Welcome to Vernon Square’ and also an opportunity to open our doors to the creative local community around King’s Cross. This will be discussed further over the coming months.
In the meantime, we very much welcome your book donations and you can drop them off at the Institute reception until Friday 2 December . Due to the de-camp we will already have a large number of books from academic staff and the library, so please therefore be considered in what you donate to us this year. If possible, please only donate high-quality art books, so that we can avoid creating extra work for our wonderful team of volunteers.
