Terra Foundation for American Art research Travel Grants



Doctoral and Postdoctoral Research Travel Grants to the United States
(Accepting Applications Now From Candidates Worldwide)

The Terra Foundation for American Art Research Travel Grants provide funding for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars outside the United States to travel to the United States for research on topics concerning American art and visual culture prior to 1980.

Six to nine grants are awarded annually:

  • up to $6,000 for doctoral students and
  • up to $9,000 for postdoctoral scholars (those who received their degree within ten years of the application deadline)
