Provisional course timings for all spring and autumn courses:
Registration on the first day from 9.30 am; classes to 4.30 or 5 pm. 10 am to 4.30 or 5 pm on all other days. There is a coffee/tea break in the morning and, if the group is at The Courtauld rather than out on a visit, another tea break in the afternoon.

This intensive course has been devised for people who would like to develop their interest in works of art and the discipline of art history.
Spring and Autumn Course: Ideas on Art: A Beginner’s Course in Art Theory
This intensive course has been designed for anyone with an interest in the history of ideas. No previous knowledge of art history or philosophy is required. The course is open to everyone over the age of 18. The number of participants is limited to 16.
Please note the differences in content between the spring and the autumn course: the March course focuses on art theory from c. 1790 to c. 1950, the September course takes up the story from c.1950 to c. 2000. Both courses are entirely freestanding.
Making Sense of Twentieth-Century Art
