Visitors to The Courtauld Gallery can discover fine collections of decorative arts from both Europe and the Middle East.

Italian Renaissance wedding chests are displayed alongside marble reliefs and an outstanding collection of Renaissance maiolica; the Gallery’s largest group of ceramics.

The Courtauld also houses fine collections of Iznik and Spanish lustreware ceramics, and exceptional items of Islamic metalwork including pieces by the craftsman Mahmud the Kurd.

The silver collection kindly loaned to the Gallery by AkzoNobel was designed and made by three generations of the Courtauld family in the eighteenth century. The current display boasts examples of luxury silverware for domestic use and in particular the new hot drinks of tea, coffee and chocolate. Discover more about the silver collection

The Courtauld also houses one of the most important collections of designs by leading artists of the Omega Workshops founded by Bloomsbury Group artist Roger Fry in the early twentieth century.
