Applicants for 2012 entry may apply direct to The Courtauld using the form below from 1 October 2011, and must also make contact with a potential supervisor to discuss the proposed research. Contact should be made by email, and information on tutors’ research interests may be found here. The application will be considered by the proposed supervisor and the decision to admit will be taken by the Research Degrees Committee.
Complete applications should include:
- Completed application form
- Two confidential academic references, in signed, sealed envelopes
- A transcript of your academic record from your university
- Written work
- A photocopy of the photo page and relevant biodata from your passport
- English proficiency certificate (if applicable)
- Two recent passport photographs

Guidance for Referees
All applications are considered by the proposed supervisor and the Research Degrees Committee (in March and July each year) before a decision is confirmed to the applicant.
Any applicants wishing to apply for a scholarship should apply by the February deadline, in order to receive a decision in time to apply for funding.
03 February 2012: Application deadline for applicants who wish to be considered at the March Research Degrees Committee meeting. All students wishing to be considered for a Courtauld Scholarship or AHRC funding must apply by this date.
22 February 2012: March Research Degrees Committee meeting
01 June 2012: Application deadline for applicants who wish to be considered at the July Research Degrees Committee meeting
03 July 2012: July Research Degrees Committee meeting
Offers will be made in the days following the committee meeting.
