The story of the creative relationship between Piet Mondrian and Ben Nicholson is largely untold yet, during the 1930s, their work was profoundly connected.

Their friendship culminated with Mondrian moving to London in 1938, at Nicholson’s invitation, where the two worked in neighbouring Hampstead studios.

This exhibition brings together an extraordinary group of paintings and reliefs to show how each artist was driven by a profound belief in the potential of abstract art to attain the highest aesthetic and spiritual power.

Peter Lely was England's leading painter from the period of the Civil War to the reign of Charles II.

Known principally for this portraits of court beauties, he devoted his early career to ambitious paintings of figures in idyllic landscape, their lyrical character contrasting with the political turmoil of the ties. this exhibition reunites these intriguing and beautiful works to provide fresh insight into a remarkable period in British Art.
